Dommershausen

Dommershausen, in the local dialect Dommersch, is a municipality in the highlands of the Hunsrück in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Community structure

The district Dommershausen is the namesake of the local church Dommershausen. To the local community include the districts Dommershausen, Dorweiler, Eveshausen and Sabershausen.

Geography

The district Dommershausen with 449 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2010) is situated on a mountain ridge between the Baybach and the Lützbachtal.

The hamlet Dommershausen includes the residential places Gastemühle and Neumühlestrasse.

History

Dommershausen is first mentioned in 1220 as Dumershusen documented. From the mention suggests that Dumershusen is used to no control. The place belonged to the condominium Beltheimer court and was thus under the rule of the Electorate of Trier, Sponheim and the Lords of Braunshorn (after their extinction Winneburg and after their extinction Metternich ). With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Museum

Vorderhunsrück Museum, Pies archive and library to the people and history (since 1992) in the former parsonage of 1837 /38. Development of the municipal area
