Wahlenau

Wahlenau is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

Located in the Hunsrück district covers 4.46 km ², of which 1.78 km ² of forest.

History

An Iron Age grave mound group is detected in the community forest. Findings thereof are in the Rheinische Landesmuseum Bonn. Roman sherds were found at the Ausoniusstraße, which forms the southern district border. According to a document of King Albrecht from October 27, 1301 had Count Johann II of Sponheim -Kreuznach Sohrener the imperial fief, which included Wahlenau. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops was the place part of France. In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War, the town was temporarily occupied by the French again. Since 1946 it has been part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate. In 1961 the Protestant church was built.

The local council in Wahlenau consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The community has, since 2000, a coat of arms: Canned wandered, humiliated blue golden geschachte tip has the Counts of Sponheim, front line, back, who were the rulers from 1301. The black eagle refers to the time when Wahlenau was imperial. The two rings make reference to the prehistoric bracelets that have been hidden in a hill in the forest district zapping rear.

Wahlenau is dominated by agriculture and handicrafts.

Wind energy

East of the church since 1996 are two wind turbines manufacturer Vestas.
