Niederkumbd

Niederkumbd (until December 6, 1935 Niederchumbd ) is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality simmering / Hunsrück.

Geography

Niederkumbd is an agricultural center in the Hunsrück. The district has an area of 2.27 km ².

History

Niederkumbd was first mentioned in 1310. At this time the place was still called Hasencomede and was closely connected with the monastery in the village today Klosterkumbd. In the Middle Ages there was also a local noble family of the same name. Disputes between the County of Sponheim and the Count Palatine in 1368 led to a feud around the place. Then the Count of Sponheim had to acknowledge the Palatinate Count's sovereignty in the city. Since 1410, the village belonged to the Duchy of simmering, the 1556 introduced the Reformation. Was later the Count Palatine of the Rhine ruler. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War at times again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Niederkumbd consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
