Nieder Kostenz

Lower Kostenz is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

The rural residential community located in the Kyrbachtal centrally located in the Hunsrück. The district has an area of 4.12 km ², of which 1.19 km ² of forest.

History

As in Upper Kostenz there was an early Roman settlement. The first mention is found in 1310 in a deed of the Counts of Sponheim. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War at times again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Parish council

The local council in Lower Kostenz consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Wind energy

On a hill east of the community of the wind farm low Kostenz is currently with eight wind turbines manufacturer of transit countries and Enron. The plant was commissioned in early 1999 /2000.

Traffic

Lower Kostenz was a stop on the disused railway Hunsrück cross Langenlonsheim - Hermes wedge.
