Hausbay

Hausbay is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Emmelshausen.

History

In 1275 Hausbay was first mentioned in a document of the Foundation of St. Martin in Worms, in which the local tithe to Hermann was awarded by Milwalt. The place name probably goes back to a house that stood at the Baybach. The place was divided in the middle ages. One half belonged to Gallscheider court and thus since 1314 to the Electorate of Trier, which was separated by the other half to the county Baybach Katzenelenbogen. The red cross represents the Electorate of Trier, the lion for Katzenelenbogen and the scale for the Gallscheider court. The blue Göpel symbolizes the three streams: Linger Hahner Bach and Bach Kelsiter, which flow together in place and form the Baybach.
