Black-Hawk-Purchase

The Black Hawk Purchase was a treaty between the Sauk and Fox Indians and the United States. It was closed on September 21, 1832 and entered into force on 1 June 1833. The Sauk and Fox were doing their lands east of the Mississippi River in present-day Illinois against 640,000 U.S. dollars. 6,000,000 acre ( about 24000 km ²) changed hands. The overridden country was also named Black Hawk Purchase.

The Black Hawk Purchase ended the Black Hawk War under the leadership of Chief Black Hawk, who was not involved in the contract itself, as it was at the time in captivity.

As a second Black Hawk Purchase the agreement dated October 1837 is known, according to the Sauk and Fox 1,250,000 acre ( about 5,000 km ² ) of their new home, the current Iowa, sold.

On May 1, 1843 also had the remaining land in Iowa leave and moved to Kansas (third Black Hawk Purchase ).
