Black Milk

Black Milk (* 1983 in Detroit, Michigan as Curtis Cross) is an American hip hop producer and rapper. His productions are usually made with the MPC sampled pieces and were especially at the beginning of his career, heavily influenced by J Dilla, with whom he is often compared.

Musical Career

Black Milk 2002 contributed one beat to the mixtape Dirty District and the album Trinity ( Past, Present and Future) by Slum Village at. With the producer and rapper Young RJ 2004 he founded the duo BR Gunna and released the mixtape Dirty Disctrict, Vol 2 Together they produced also the majority of the album Detroit Deli ( A Taste of Detroit ) by Slum Village. When working on Dirty District, Vol 2, he met J Dilla know, who worked in the same studio and can be heard on the album as a rapper. The following year, Black Milk released on his own record label, his first solo album Sound of the City, Vol 1 and produced again with Young RJ Slum Villages self-titled successor.

In 2006 it took the New York label Fat Beats Records and released a year later, his second album, Popular Demand. Productions for Pharoahe Monch and Lloyd Banks, as well as collaboration albums with the Californian rappers Bishop Lamont and Fat Ray detroit rapper followed. He also produced the 2008 solo album by Elzhi ( Slum Village ). In October 2008, appeared Black Milk's third solo album Tronic, the guest contributions from, among others, Dwele, Royce da 5'9 " and DJ Premier contains. He used on the album less soul and more Electronicaelemente and also integrated for the first time real instruments. This musical development has been very positive.

In September 2010, the next solo album, album of the year appeared.

The end of 2008 announced collaboration with the rappers Guilty Simpson and Sean Price of Boot Camp Clik brought under the name Random Axe in the summer of 2011, the eponymous album out.
