The Berlin district of Pankow district Blankenfelde was formed in 1920 in the formation of Greater Berlin from the time independent rural community Blank field with 549 inhabitants and the Gutsbezirk Blank field with 360 residents. Blank field is the last village on the city of Berlin, which is entirely surrounded by fields and because of the formerly located here Rieselfelder of the most sparsely populated district of Berlin.

History

Between Blank field and Rosenthal is on old maps in a lowland area the designation to find the " village location ". Presumably it was a late Slavic settlement, which was abandoned, docked as German settlers in the colonization of Barnim in 1230 a Angersdorf ( deformed by the later installation of the manor ), in which the Slavs were resettled. Blank field for the first time in 1284, occupied by a Urkundszeugen, the Berlin Council man John de Blankenfelte. From 1943 to 1945 there were on the road to Luebars two camps for forced laborers. The camp south of the road had been established as a transit camp for the return of Eastern workers who had become incapacitated. It was also used as " sick bed for Eastern workers ", some of it for the accommodation of pregnant women.

The GDR maintained in Blankenfelde 1959-1979 their central " Shelter for Homeless migrants and returnees".

Economic Development

Since the late Middle Ages, a branch of the trade route between Berlin and Prenzlau went by bright field. Between Rosenthal and Blank field were located since the early days by 1985 sewage farms on which the sewage Berlin were spent. In the district Arkenberge existed for years a recycling dump to be filled up to the highest elevation of Berlin.

In 1901 Blank field had a railway connection with railway station on the so-called " Heidekrautbahn ". With the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the previously existing connection between Wilhelmsruh and Blank field has been interrupted, the place was then up to the decommissioning of the section after Basdorf 1983 southern end of the line.
