Bloomingdale is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Hillsborough County in the U.S. state of Florida with 22 711 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Bloomingdale is located on the Alafia River. The village is located about 25 km southeast of Tampa and about 12 miles from the Tampa Bay area.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 22 711 inhabitants distributed to 8,419 households. The population density was 1118.8 inh. / Km ². 84.2 % of the population were white, 8.4% African American, 0.4% Native American and 2.5 % Asian Americans. 1.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.9% in different ethnic groups. 11.9 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 20.6 % of all households lived in 40.8 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 80.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.86 and the average family size is 3.17 people.

29.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.4% were 20-39 years old, 34.5 % were 40-59 years old and 16.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 41 years. 49.0 % of the population were male and 51.0 % female.

The average annual income was $ 82,382, while 5.2% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.08 % of the population spoke Spanish 6.46% and 1.48 % had a different mother tongue.

Economy

The main employment sectors are: education, health and social services: (16.5%), trade / retail ( 14.7%), finance, insurance and real estate ( 12.6%), future technologies, management, administration ( 12, 9%).
