Temple Terrace is a city in Hillsborough County in the U.S. state of Florida with 24 541 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Temple Terrace is adjacent to the large city of Tampa, near the west coast of Florida and forms with it an urban space.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 24 541 inhabitants distributed to 11,296 households. The population density was 1378.7 inh. / Km ². 68.0 % of the population were white, 19.5% African American, 0.4% Native American and 5.5 % Asian Americans. 3.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.2% in different ethnic groups. 14.7 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 21.8 % of all households lived in 27.9 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 59.5 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average size of a household was 2.39 persons and the average family size is 2.95 people.

23.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 34.1% were 20-39 years old, 24.8% were 40-59 years old and 17.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 33 years. 47.8 % of the population were male and 52.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 47,998, while 13.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 85.42 % of the population spoke Spanish 10.80% and 3.78% had a different mother tongue.

Traffic

Temple Terrace is affected by the Interstate 75 and crossed by the Florida State Roads 580, 582 and 583. The Tampa airport is located about 25 km southwest.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 328 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were five rapes, 36 robberies, 70 injuries, 277 burglaries, 535 thefts, 31 car thefts and three arson.
