Blue Earth is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, with around 3,600 inhabitants. It is the administrative seat of Faribault County.

Geography

Blue Earth is centrally located in southern Minnesota. About 15 kilometers south of the boundary with Iowa. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of ​​the town is an area of 8.2 square kilometers.

History

Blue Earth was founded in 1856. Its name comes through the Blue Earth River. Due to the natural black clay on the river bank was this the Indian name Mahkota (which means Blue Earth ), which was then later used as the name for the city.
