Bo Johansson (bodybuilder)

Bo Valdemar Johansson ( born February 7, 1945 in Gothenburg ) is a former Swedish weightlifter.

Career

Johansson grew up in Gothenburg and began as a boy with bodybuilding. At age 16, he also began to practice weight lifting, but ran it not very intense, because he only wanted to finish his apprenticeship as a carpenter. Later, however, he intensified the weightlifting workout but because he showed a lot of talent in this sport, but was also still to bodybuilding in the City Gym in Gothenburg. Ingve Frölander, the 1962 Secretary General of the Swedish Weightlifting Federation, made ​​sure that the training conditions and social conditions for the Swedish weightlifters have been greatly improved. This also benefited Johansson, the 1966 Swedish Junior Champion in the light heavyweight division, with 370 kg in the Olympic triathlon. In the same year he was second best in the light heavyweight division with 372.5 kg at the Swedish Championships seniors. He was in 1968 Swedish champion at middleweight heavyweight 490 kg. He had improved so that within a year to nearly 120 kg in the Olympic triathlon. Also international successes came at this power level. He was runner-up in 1969 and 1968 and 1971, respectively European Vice Champion, with him in 1971 almost the sensation would be able to beat the then applicable as unbeatable Soviet athlete David Rigert.
