Bob Masse

Bob Masse has been famous since the 1960s for the artistic design of concert posters for the big bands and performers of the decades, and thus itself is considered one of the greatest artists of his craft. Of particular importance are his works from the 1960s that are considered distillate of this decade and are interpreted as a psychedelic art nouveau.

Career

During his studies at the Art Academy in Vancouver, British Columbia, he began to make in exchange for drinks and tickets for folk groups posters. His first color posters created for the concerts in the Afterthought - for essential bands of the Summer of Love: The Grateful Dead, Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, The Yardbirds, Cream, etc. Since the mid- 1960s, he spent more time again in Haight- Ashbury, where influenced him the alternative hippie movement strong.

His works are also influenced by Art Nouveau, in particular by the work of Alphonse Mucha. The Art Nouveau elements are joined by bright colors and a special font in capital letters, which he - like all elements of his posters - designed free hand.

In the 1980s, Bob Masse turned away from the production of concert posters and devoted himself to movie posters. So he drew for example responsible for posters of Total Recall and Back to the Future III.

In the 1990s, concert posters were popular again, and so Bob Masse returned to its origins.

2006, Bob Masse a television appearance in the documentary " Shakin ' All Over ", which treated the 1960 Canada's music scene.

Bob Masse is from the poster artists of the 1960s, perhaps the only one who is still in business. Often he is fully booked for months in advance, for the production of a poster he takes to the four weeks.
