Bobrovec

Bobrovec (Hungarian Nagybobróc ) is a city and a municipality in the north of Slovakia, with 1792 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Liptovsky Mikulas, kraj a lower part of the Žilinský.

Geography

Bobrovec lies in the traditional landscape Liptau in the western part of the basin Podtatranská kotlina under the Western Tatras (part of the Tatras). East of the village flows the brook Jalovský Brook, which flows into the reservoir Liptauer. The N.M. at an altitude of 634 m lying village center is six kilometers from Liptovsky Mikulas.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1231 and belonged to 1279 directly to the Hungarian king. 1310 the village received market rights. 1482 was also the municipal law of the spots based on Magdeburg law and had some city-like features. In addition to agriculture, therefore, were trade and commerce, especially later masonry of importance.
