Bobsleigh at the 1948 Winter Olympics

The V. 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz two competitions were held in bobsleigh. Venue was the Olympic Bob Run, a natural track with a length of 1,576 m and a height difference of 130 m. The teams had to complete four runs, whose terms were added to a total result.

Two-

1st and 2nd run: January 30, 1948 3rd and 4th run: January 31, 1948

It was attended by a total of 16 teams. Great Britain II is overthrown and excreted in the third round. The two Swiss teams scored in all four runs, the two best running times.

Bobsled

1st run: February 6, 1948 2nd - 4th Round: February 7, 1948

It was attended by a total of 15 teams. In good conditions the team Switzerland I achieved the fastest time in the first run. The second run had to be canceled because the track was damaged by a water line break after eight out of fifteen teams. The previous times were canceled and continued the competition the following day. During heavy snow, the sledges were two to four over the previous day at the races slowed by about three seconds per run. The best the Americans came clear with the conditions and eventually won gold and bronze.
