Bogdan Lis

Jerzy Bogdan Lis ( born November 10, 1952 in Gdańsk ) is a Polish politician, Senator from 1989 to 1991 in the First election period 2007-2011 and a Member of the Sejm in the VI. Election period.

Curriculum vitae

In 1969 he finished the -job training as a mechanic. In the years 1970 to 1971, he worked as a mechanic in the line of the Danzig harbor. He took part in the riots in December 1970 and sat from 1971 to 1972 in prison. After 1972, he worked in the factories of Power Systems and Automatic for naval vessels " Elmor " as adjuster for machine tools. From 1975 to 1981 he was one of the Polska Zjednoczona partia Robotnicza ( Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR ) and was Związek Młodzieży Socjalistycznej ( Socialist Youth League ) and in the union operates.

After 1978 he worked with the founding committee of the Wolne związki zawodowe Wybrzeża ( Free Trade Unions of the coastal region ). In 1980 he organized the Inter-company strike committee of the opposition Solidarity trade union a strike in operation Elmor, after which he was vice chairman of the union leadership in the region of Gdansk and a member of the Nationwide Commission for understanding with the government and participated in numerous negotiations in part with government representatives.

With the imposition of martial law on December 13, 1981, he escaped the internment and went underground and organized the subsurface structure of Solidarity in the Gdansk region. In April 1982 he was a co-organizer of the nationwide Provisional Coordination Commission for the underground Solidarity and was responsible for the coordination of cooperation with foreign countries. He was arrested in June 1984 on charges of treason and dismissed after half a year due to an amnesty. In February 1985 he was arrested again, sentenced to two and a half years in prison in September 1986 and released again due to an amnesty. In 1986 he became a member of the Provisional Council of Solidarity and a year later he came into the national Executive Board of the union now no longer active in the underground.

After 1988, was a member of the Solidarity Citizens' Committee and participated in the discussions of the Round Table. In the years 1089 to 1991 he sat in the Senate of the First legislature. On the second national congress of the Solidarności 1990 he was elected to the Presidium of the National Committee and was responsible for contacts with foreign countries. After 1991, he no longer took at the country level in public life and worked as an entrepreneur.

Since 1997, he belonged to the Unia Wolności ( Freedom Union - UW) to. From 1998 to 2002 he sat in the Parliament of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. In June 2003 he became a member of the board of UW, then the party partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl ( Democratic Party - PD). In the parliamentary elections of 2001 and 2005, he ran unsuccessfully for the Sejm.

On 31 August 2006 he was awarded by President Lech Kaczyński with the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he was for the electoral district of Gdansk with 12,468 votes on the list of Lewica i Demokraci - selected ( Left and Democrats LiD ) in the Sejm. He is a member of the Sejm Commission for Culture and the Media, to October 2008, he was Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Education, Science and Youth.

On 9 April 2008 he was co-founder of the Democratic faction.

In the parliamentary elections in 2011 his candidacy for a seat in the Senate reached no success.
