Bohumír Zeman

Bohumír Zeman ( born May 26, 1957 in Vrchlabí ) is a former Czech ski racer. He competed for Czechoslovakia and was specialized in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom.

Biography

First international successes reach Zeman at the European Junior Championships: 1974 he finished third in the giant slalom and the slalom in 1975 Second. The first points in the World Cup won Zeman on January 9, 1976 7th place in the Kandahar combination of Garmisch -Partenkirchen. In the same year he took part in the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. In the 1976/77 season he was able to classify only once in the points, in the following winter, not at all. Consistently solid performances get him in the 1978/79 season, with a total of five placings in the top ten.

Similarly successful Zeman was in the winter 1979/80 with five other top- 10 finishes. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, he classified in the combined score that counted only as a World Championship, fourth. On March 1, 1980, he drove the only time in a World Cup race on the podium as he behind Ingemar Stenmark and Phil Mahre was third in the giant slalom at Mont Sainte -Anne. In the winter of 1980/81 was a fourth place Zeman's only classification in the World Cup. In contrast, he decided the Hahnenkamm combination of Kitzbühel in itself, which did not count for the World Cup in that season. End of the season 1981/82 he resigned from professional sports.
