Bojan Adamič

Bojan Adamič ( born August 9, 1912 in Reifnitz, today Slovenia, † November 3, 1995 in Ljubljana) was a Yugoslav composer, band leader and conductor.

Adamič studied at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana piano with Janko Ravnik. The late thirties, he founded a Swing Band, Broadway. During the Second World War he joined the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army. After the end of World War II, he formed a big band that successfully established itself as a radio dance orchestra of Ljubljana. Until the early 1960s, he led this big band, which then Jože Privsek took over.

Initially there was Adamič active as a jazz musician, and later he turned primarily to film music. He composed the music for more than two hundred television and movies. He also composed songs and chansons, brass band, chamber music and symphonic works. Had great success, his music has been to the puppet show Žogica nogica, also known to be Ljubljanski koncert for piano and orchestra.

Adamič promoted many young musicians, including the composer Vinko Globokar and the singers Tinkara Kovač, Sonja Gabršcek, Braco Koren, Irena Kohont, Jelka Cvetežar, Gabi Novak and Marjana Deržaj.
