Bombardier Itino

The Bombardier Itino ( spelling of the manufacturer: ITINO ) is depending on the design of two - or three-piece hydraulic diesel / diesel- mechanical multiple unit with a top speed of 140 km / h to 160 km / h It is arranged with two separate in the end cars, diesel engines, and is offered up to four times coupled applications. Production is carried out in the factory Hennig near Berlin.

Starting position

The Itino was developed by Adtranz and should complement the larger and more powerful vehicle the Regio-Shuttle. Even before the completion of the first copy Adtranz was acquired by Bombardier Transportation in 2001. During the production of the Regio -Shuttle had to be submitted for antitrust reasons to Stadler Rail, the Itino remained at Bombardier. Due to this change in the starting position of the Itino stood in competition both for Regio-Shuttle, and for Bombardier 's Talent family. Due to this particularly unfavorable situation in the already competitive market for transport diesel railcars were so far only 57 specimens (27 vehicles in Germany, 30 in Sweden) sold, while competing models were produced in a plural number.

Construction

The trains have a high level of comfort and thanks to the good engine very good acceleration characteristics. Thus, the Itino also fits well on main lines between electric railways. Each car body has one separate air conditioning for passenger and driver space. These obtain their electrical power from two 90 kW generators, which are driven by the two diesel engines.

Due to the construction in Niederflurtechnik a convenient and wheelchair entry is possible. Only at the end of the train each a staircase leads to a raised area on the motors. The toilet is also disabled. The installation of Hubliften in the boarding area is possible, it has been applied in the Itino Erfurt Railway (EB ) (Ex - prototype).

The cab has (actually ) do not have mirrors for monitoring the doors. This is done through two outer cameras whose images are displayed on a monitor (in the picture of the cab at the bottom left recognizable). On special customer outside folding mirrors were also retrofitted for Swedish cars. The vehicles from the RMV ordered for Odenwaldbahn (2005 22 pieces, 2010 four pieces) were additionally equipped according to customer with an indoor video surveillance.

Like many other modern railcar has the Itino a combined driving / brake lever. It is for emergency use an additional driver's brake valve available. The plug control lever is hidden in the desk. In addition, there is a parallel electrically and pneumatically acting emergency brake stop button the driver safety.

The Itino has a modern electro-pneumatic brake system (manufacturer Knorr ) and additionally has a retarder (integrated into the turbo transmission T212 manufacturer Voith and from 2008 in the manual Ecolife ZF ). About a so-called blending brake concept, the braking computer the various brakes depending on the required braking power combined another, while only the performance of wear-free brake is exploited. Only at elevated braking request the pneumatic brake is consulted.

In addition, the Itino is equipped with a roof-mounted cooling system for each drive system, which allows a good heat dissipation even at high ambient temperatures. Each roof cooling system consists of three fans that draw cooling air from the tension through the cooling elements and then blow out vertically upwards.

Characteristic of the Itino is the novel for rail vehicles crash concept. It has been further developed since the Erfurt prototype and corresponding TSI TSI 1 and 2 as buffer -looking square blocks at the ends of vehicles in addition to the Scharfenberg couplers consist of power absorbing material. They work together with other measures, such as the crumple zone of motor vehicles. When meeting with a Swedish locomotive, the system already tried and tested.

The car bodies are made of aluminum profiles. The ends of the vehicles as for all modern railcars made of glass fiber reinforced plastic GRP. The inclined struts in the bands of windows let the same origin as developed by Adtranz before Itino one-piece Regio-Shuttle RS1 realize have here but no more static function.

From 2006 worked with EU funding for a technique to reduce pollutant emissions. Therefore a new engine is used, the hydraulic replaced by a mechanical transmission and installed SCR catalytic converters. To the operation of the aqueous urea solution required is AdBlue, the reaction to convert the nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and water vapor. For urea, an additional 150 -gallon tank is needed. The weight of the drive unit could be reduced by 20 %, while the performance increased by 12% and fuel consumption is reduced. The delivered from 2009 vehicles are equipped with this technology.

The German cars are Bombardier internally managed as IT D2.0.001 to IT D2.0.027. As usual their own numbers were allocated to the operators, so goes the Itino the EB than VT201, the ITINOs the Odenwald Railway (operator VIAS GmbH) as VT101 VT126 up.

Use

Germany

So far, the Itino at DB was designated as the class 613. In the new Vehicle Register of the Federal Railway Authority, he is listed as 0615. This train has in Germany in addition to the Erfurt Railway (EB ) (lines Erfurt -Kassel ( until Dec. 2013) and Erfurt- Ilmenau ) is currently the only Odenwaldbahn ( routes Eberbach-Darmstadt/Frankfurt am Main, wholesale Umstadt Wiebelsbach -Frankfurt am Main, Darmstadt - Pfungstadt ). When EB- vehicle is a prototype on which the time allotted for the Odenwaldbahn more powerful engine was tested.

As part of the modernization of Odenwaldbahn the vehicle management region Frankfurt Rhein Main GmbH ( fahma ) has ordered 22 two-piece Itinos, which were delivered between August 5 and November 22, 2005. The trainsets are used in regular operation since the timetable change on December 11, 2005. The Aufmotorisierung the two-part Itino has made it possible to realize the scale without a long soak times timetable construction for the " New Odenwaldbahn " without the initially planned use of tilting technology.

Since the Odenwaldbahn due to the great success still has a need for more units, four other vehicles were by the RMV in August 2007 and delivered in early March 2010. This can then be operated to Pfungstadt also reactivated the route. These vehicles match the rest of the first of the applicable emission standard until 2012 Stage3B. On May 3, 2010, they were able to go into operation.

Sweden

There go another 30 Itino multiple units ( twenty-four 2-piece and 3-piece six ) in Sweden. The vehicles carry out the type designation " Y31 " ( 2-piece) and " Y32 " ( 3-part). The operation numbers are 1400-1405, 1412-1429 ( Y31 ) and 1406-1411 ( Y32 ). They are in contrast to the design used in Germany provided with extended winter equipment such as heated fuel storage tanks and Schneeräumschilden. In addition, the equipment in passenger areas with tables, folding armrests and power connections for laptops is total luxury.

The trains are operated around Jönköping / Nässjö / Värnamo, between Borlänge Malung, in Värmland and on the railway line Gårdsjö - Håkantorp on behalf of the regional transport authorities JLT, TiB, Vämlandstrafik and Västtrafik. Another three vehicles were in January 2008, seven appointed in February 2008 and three in June 2008 and delivered between October 2009 and May 2010.
