Bonnétable

Bonnétable is a municipality with 3955 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in France. It is located in the department of Sarthe and in the Pays de la Loire. Its inhabitants are called Bonnétabliens.

Geography

The community Bonnétable is about 26 km northeast of Le Mans and 35 km southeast of Alençon. The Huisne flows 12 km from the southeast.

Attractions

  • Church ' Assomption de la Vierge " (Feast of the Assumption ) in Aulaines, Romanesque ( 10-11. Century), Gothic ( 15-16. Century) and neo-Romanesque (19th century) has wood in the nave and choir vaults; Choir bar with ducted Crucifixion (16th century); female statue with book in a niche of the left side of the altar (17th century); above the west portal you can see a stone coat of arms of the royal abbey of Saint- Denis.
  • The neoclassical church of Saint Sulpice dates back to the 19th century.
  • The castle from the 15th - 17th Century was restored in the 19th century.
  • The Fabrique de céramique (ceramics factory) was founded in 1832.

Demographics

The population of Bonnétable has increased from 1990 to 1999 - from about 3,900 to about 4,020. 2005, there were about 4,100 inhabitants.
