Boris (Band)

Boris is a Japanese band from Tokyo, which was founded in 1992. The musical spectrum of the band is very diverse, ranging from stoner rock on noise rock, drone, to avant-garde. The idea for the name came from the song Boris the American rock band The Melvins. Since the formation of the band they have brought a total of 17 albums, 3 live albums and 14 studio albums and one EP on the market.

Band History

In 1992, Atsuo, Wata, Takeshi Nagata and together the band Boris. In 1996, Nagata left the band, Atsuo took over the drums and singing together. That same year, the group released their debut album Absolutego via Southern Lord.

In the following years, the band released a further 16 albums on different record labels; preferred Southern Lord. Since 2007, Michio Kurihara plays with during live performances on guitar. In September 2010 the band released together with Ian Astbury BXI EP recorded.

Style

The band is distinguished by the different genres, which they mix with each other with their music. In general it can be said that it is possible classify between Boris Drone Doom and Stoner Rock. This mixture is The figures in brackets by a marked propensity for noise music. Nevertheless, Boris can not be reduced exclusively to these styles. Band member Takeshi plays a double-neck guitar, each with a bass guitar and an electric guitar neck. The last publication in 2010 can be classified between alternative, gothic rock and psychedelic.
