The Borken station ( Westphalia ) is the main railway station of the city of Borken and important transport hub of the western country Münster in North Rhine- Westphalia.

The Borkener station is a former railway junction on the railway line Winterswijk - Gelsenkirchen- Bismarck, the tree mountain railway (formerly Empel -Rees -Münster ) and the railway line Borken- Steinfurt. Since 1996 he has been the terminus of the only still operating track section Borken- Gelsenkirchen- Bismarck.

History

The Dutch -Westphalian Railway Company ( NWE ) began in 1878 to build their railroad Winterswijk - Gelsenkirchen- Bismarck. On June 21, 1880 opened with the route the train station Borken- Gemen as a through station. The renaming in Borken station ( Westphalia ) on 6 March 1883.

The Prussian State Railways ( PSE) had taken over the course of the NWE 1889. On August 1, 1902, she reached the tree mountain railway from Bocholt Train Station Coming to Borken station ( Westphalia ), which thus became the separation station.

Just two months later, on 1 October 1902 in close proximity to the state railway opened the Westphalian Provincial Railroad (WLE ) the output station of their railway Borken- Steinfurt.

For crossing station of Borken ( Westphalia ) station was but strictly speaking only on October 1, 1904, when the PSE took the section Borken- Coesfeld the tree mountain railway in operation.
