Borovce

Borovce ( Borowitz German, Hungarian Vágbori - to 1907 Bori ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 991 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Piešťany, part of Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northern part of the hill country Trnavská pahorkatina (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ). The center is located at an altitude of 161 m nm and is nine kilometers away from Piešťany.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1262 as Borey writing. The village was royal estate, before it was given in 1388 to Stibor of Stiborice ( based at the castle Beckov ). Since the 16th century Borovce belonged to the landed gentry. 1828 are listed 65 houses and 740 inhabitants. The traditional main source of income is agriculture.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Neutra place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia and Slovakia today.

Traffic

Borovce is located on the regional road 504 ( Trnava Veľké Kostoľany - Nové Mesto nad Váhom ). The connection point Piešťany ( Highway D1 ) is six kilometers, the Piešťany station on the railway line Bratislava - Žilina eight kilometers away.
