Rakovice

Rakovice (Hungarian Rákfalu - to 1907 Rakovic ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 555 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Piešťany, part of Trnavský kraj.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northern part of the hill country Trnavská pahorkatina (part of the Slovak Danube lowland ) on the right bank terrace of the hall Dudváh. The center is located at an altitude of 160 m nm and is seven miles from Piešťany.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1262 as Rokoych writing.

Until 1918, belonged to the lying in the county Neutra place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia and Slovakia today.

1943-1945 Rakovice was part of the neighboring municipality Veselé.

Attractions

  • Country palace in classical style from the years 1856-58, the successor of a Renaissance country manor house was mentioned in 1675. The country castle is surrounded by a 6.5 hectare English park
  • Bell tower from the 18th century
  • Statues of St. Florian ( 1765 ), John of Nepomuk (1884 ), and Cyril and Methodius (1924 )
