Boudevilliers

Boudevilliers was a municipality in the district of Val -de- Ruz in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. On January 1, 2013, it merged with the municipalities Cernier, Chézard -Saint- Martin, Coffrane, Dombresson, Engollon, Fenin- Vilars -Saules, Fontainemelon, Fontaines, Les Geneveys -sur- Coffrane, Les Hauts- Geneveys Montmollin, Le Pâquier, Savagnier and Villiers to the new municipality of Val -de- Ruz.

Geography

Boudevilliers is located on 753 m above sea level. Level, 5 km northwest of the capital of the canton of Neuchâtel (air line). The village is located in the central part of the basin Val de Ruz region in the Neuchâtel Jura.

The area of ​​12.6 km ² large municipality area includes a section in the central part of the synclines of the Val de Ruz. The eastern boundary is located above the river Seyon. To the west, the area on the southeast inclined, intensively farmed area of ​​the Val de Ruz and on the crest of the Jura chain of Tête de Ran stretches. History

The first mention of Boudevilliers was in 1144 under the name Boldiwiler. Later, the names Boudeviler ( 1195), Bold Eviler (1202 ), Bude Villiers ( 1413 ) and Bude Willier ( 1453) appeared. The name is due probably to the persons name Balterius ( bold warriors). Malvilliers was called in the late Middle Ages and Malavillier Molavilliers, derived from the Latin malum ( evil ).

Boudevilliers came 1308 was donated to the County of Neuchâtel and formed henceforth ( until 1807 ) an enclave in the reign Valanginian. 1531 the Reformation was introduced in the village.
