Boysetsfire is an American post-hardcore band from Newark ( Delaware), USA.

History

The band formed in 1994 and soon after took on two demos that were sent to various record labels. After refusals came back, the band members rented a van and toured the United States. During the several years of vagabond life, they recorded more demos and earned a small Fanstamm. The EPs This Crying This Screaming, My Voice is Being Born and Consider taken during this period and sold in very small numbers. Thus, My Voice Is Being Born Only 700 copies were of This Crying, This Screaming, produced, of which only 250 had a booklet. The low success forced the band, The Day the Sun Went Out for only $ 1,200 receive.

After a first European tour they recorded After the Eulogy, with the breakthrough came. The band was still known only to a small scene, but now they spanned almost the entire world. boysetsfire played sold-out concerts in the U.S. and Germany. The commercial success came in 2003 with the album Tomorrow Come Today, which was released on Wind - Up Records. Boysetsfire made ​​extensive tours through Europe and played at major festivals such as Lollapalooza on.

Shortly after the release of the album the bass player Rob Avery left the band and was replaced by Robert Honor Brand, who had previously played with the German hardcore band My Hero Died Today.

When she took up the sequel to Tomorrow Come Today 2004, it came to disagreements with the record company, as they feared that the new songs were not enough radio friendly and the group wanted to ask a co- songwriter to the side. The band split from the label and toured a long time by the United States and Europe.

In September 2005, the band found at Equal Vision Records (for the USA) and Burning Heart Records ( for the rest of the world) a new home. On 24 February 2006 her fourth album The Misery Index was in Germany: Notes from the Plague Years published.

On 18 October 2005 the debut album The Day the Sun Went Out at Equal Vision Records / Burning Heart Records rereleased. On November 1, 2005, a compilation released called Before the Eulogy containing B-sides, singles and rarities.

On 7 June 2006, the album The Misery Index was released in Japan on Solitary Man Records, in July it was announced that the band will separate.

On the homepage of the band was given shortly afterwards announced that guitarist Joshua Latshaw severely injured in a work accident at a construction site has ( broken neck, two broken vertebrae and a collapsed lung ). The European tour was continued with a replacement guitarist. The planned prior to the accident farewell concert of the band in the U.S. has now been delayed.

In May 2007 the band toured through Europe for the last time. The two final farewell concerts took place on 8 and 9 June at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, PA held, marking the end of the long band's career. The whole farewell tour was accompanied by a film crew and is on two DVDs - is published - one each for the farewell concert and the tour in Europe. The DVD with the final farewell concert was titled " Farewell Show" on September 30, 2009, while a DVD for concert recordings of the European tour is still pending.

From the beginning of 2007 were heard singer Nathan Gray and guitarist Joshua Latshaw also in the band The Casting Out. However, Joshua Latshaw rose shortly after the band was due to health problems again. The end of 2010 the temporary end of the band in favor of other projects was announced.

Boysetsfire gave 5 October 2010 on their Facebook page their reunion known. The first concert after the reunion took place on December 5, 2010 at the Telekom Extreme Playgrounds in Berlin. A multi-week tour of Europe to follow in summer 2011.

On 28 August 2011, they announced on their Facebook page that they will start their tour after recording a new album.

On November 28, 2011 Boysetsfire announced the departure of their bassist Robert honorary fire. Was succeeded by Marc Krupanski, the brother of drummer Matt Krupanski.

In December 2012, Boysetsfire announced that Matt and Marc Krupanski be leaving the band. Furthermore, it was announced that Robert honorary fire has withdrawn his exit. Other new members are Dan Pelic on drums and Chris Rakus on electric bass.

On 7 June 2013, the album was "While a Nation Sleeps ... " was published, which was able to record positive reviews for itself.

Band name

The band changed several times the spelling of their band's name from Boy Sets Fire on BoySetsFire to boysetsfire. 2013 was the spelling on the album cover also BOYSETSFIRE. The name is based on the novel " The Boy Who Set the Fire" by Mohammed Mrabet, translated it means something like " The boy who put the fire ".
