Brandoa is a Freguesia (municipality ) in the concelho ( circle) of Amadora. Within an area of 2.2 km ² 17,732 inhabitants (as of 30 June 2011). The population density is thus 7982 inhabitants per km ².

History

The community goes to the estate of Quinta da Brandoa back. This was from his earliest mention in 1575 in varying private ownership until it was charged in 1958 by its owners with a mortgage worth 800,000, - passed escudos, and later in the public domain. After 1960 began the illegal settlement of the area of the Quinta, began the Câmara Municipal de Oeiras from 1962, when about 360 housing units had already been built illegally to take a regular residential development of the area in the eye. Starting in 1963, the subsequent legalization of buildings was begun. When in 1969 a six-story building collapsed, further construction activities were inhibited, and worked out a development plan. After further activities of planning, to cause no significant results, the development plan was implemented after the Carnation Revolution in 1974. 1975 entanden the first active Nachbarschaftskommittes that comissões de Moradores and in 1977 began the systematic survey of the condition of the existing structure. 1979, the county and the municipality of Amadora Brandoa was created whose institutions were in operation in 1980.
