Break O'Day is located in the northeast of the island on the coast and is about 190 km from the capital Hobart. The area includes 29 districts and towns: Akaroa, Ansons Bay, Beaumaris, Binalong Bay Chain of Lagoons, Cornwall, Eddystone, Falmouth, Four Mile Creek, Goshen, Goulds Country, Gray, Lottah, Mangana, Mathinna, Poimena, Pyengana, Round Hill, Scamander, Upper Scamander, Seymour, St. Helens, Stieglitz, St. Marys, Upper Esk, The Gardens, The Station, West Pyengana and Weldborough. The seat of the Municipality Council is located in the town of St Helens, in the east of the LGA at the Georges Bay, where about 2000 inhabitants.
Management
The Break O'Day Municipality Council has nine members. The Mayor ( Mayor ), his deputy ( deputies) and Councillor seven are elected directly by the residents of the LGA. Break O'Day is not divided into districts.
