With 117 meters, it is the fifth tallest skyscraper in Milan, built in 1954 to a design by Luigi Mattioni. Until the completion of the Pirelli skyscraper in 1960 it was the tallest building in Italy. In the lower eight floors are offices, the upper floors are apartments. The apartments were connected by pneumatic tube to the mail room of the building. Already at its inception was used for air conditioning groundwater. 2009, the building was renovated.

In the movie " Father, we marry full " ( Ragazze d' oggi ) by Luigi Zampa in 1955 the Torre Breda can be seen in the unfinished state.
