Brenda Chapman

Brenda Chapman is an Oscar-winning director, screenwriter, and storyboard illustrator. She is also the first woman who has performed in 1998 with The Prince of Egypt directed an animated film.

Life

Chapman originally wanted to be active in the fields of fashion design or commercial art, but opted for the animation industry, because it is a very talented drawer. She graduated from Cal Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. During this time, Chapman produced a student film through which she got a job at Walt Disney and began there at first projects to collaborate. The highlight of their time at Disney marked the very commercially successful film The Lion King.

After eight years, she left Disney in the direction of DreamWorks Animation, where she was able to celebrate another high point with The Prince of Egypt (1998).

At the urging of Joe Ranft, she moved in 2003 to Pixar Animation Studios, where she was involved in the strip Cars among others. My biggest success came in 2012 with the 3D animated film Merida - Legend of the Highlands, where she worked as a director and writer and the 2013 Academy Award winning Best Animated Feature Film.

Chapman has with her ​​husband, the director Kevin Lima, a daughter, the actress Emma Rose Lima.
