Bresilley

Bresilley is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bresilley situated at an altitude of 198 m above sea level, 6 km east-southeast of Pesmes and about 29 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department, in the valley of the Ognon on the north bank of the river.

The area of ​​3.54 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognon Valley. The southern border is always along the Ognon. This flows here with several turns west through a flat area which has a width of about three kilometers and is on average 195 m. It is used primarily for agricultural purposes. From the river, the municipality's area extends north across the valley floor and the terrace of Bresilley (206 m) to the adjacent lowlands of Bois d' Aval. This is drained by the creek Cassis for Ognon. In the far north the area reaches the plateau at Bard. Here the highest elevation of Bresilley is achieved with 221 m.

Neighboring communities of Bresilley are Bard -lès- Pesmes and Montagney in the north, Vitreux in the east, and Ougney Thervay in the south and Malan in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Bresilley belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held a noble family in the 12th century bore the name of the village. Ecclesiastical belonged to Bresilley Coming of Montseugny. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Bresilley is a member of the 18 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Attractions

The village church of Bresilley was built in the 18th century and has grave plates as well as a statue of Saint Roch from the 16th century. In the village is an oak tree that was probably planted in 1640 and has a trunk diameter of eight meters.

Population

With 177 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bresilley one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 206 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Bresilley was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Gray to Arc -et- Senans. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 11 km. Further road links exist with Montagney and Malan.
