Lieucourt

Lieucourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lieucourt situated at an altitude of 217 m above sea level, 9 km north-northeast of Pesmes and about 33 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village extends to the south of the department, east of Saôneebene on the plateau north of the valley of the brook Résie.

The area of ​​4.80 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. The central part of the area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 220 ​​m. It is composed of Tertiary sediments and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. To the south of the municipality extends to the bottom of the valley Résie, which provides for the drainage west to Ognon. In the north, the municipality's area extends into the vast forest area of the Bois lady in the 248 meters, the highest elevation of Lieucourt is achieved. In the far north the area is enough in the catchment area of ​​Ténise ( left tributary of the Saône ).

Neighboring communities of Lieucourt are Le Tremblois, Noiron and Arsans in the north, the east, and Valay Vadans in the southwest.

History

Remains of a Gallo-Roman estate, indicate that the municipality of Lieucourt was inhabited very early. In the Middle Ages Lieucourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the mentioned in the 12th century family Leucort. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Lieucourt is a member of the 18 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Attractions

The village church of Lieucourt was built in the 18th century and has a rich interior of this period. The covered Lavoir from the 19th century, former laundry and watering cattle, was restored in 1997.

Population

With 74 inhabitants (2007 ) Lieucourt one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century ( in 1896 130 people were still counted ), a continuous population growth has been recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Lieucourt was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Valay to Le Tremblois. Further road links exist with Arsans and Vadans.
