Noiron

Noiron is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Noiron situated at an altitude of 205 m above sea level, 7 km south-southeast of Gray and approximately 35 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the southwest of the department, at the edge of the plain of Gray in the Talniederung the Tenise on the southern edge of the Forêt des Hauts Bois.

The area of ​​5.58 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of the Saone in the north and in the south Ognon. From east to west, the area is crossed by the Talniederung the Tenise, which provides for drainage Saône and has a maximum width of one kilometer. It is used for agriculture. The valley is flanked by a plateau, which lies on both sides on average 230 m. It is divided by the small valley of various short tributaries of Tenise. The plateau is composed of sediments of the Tertiary and upper Jurassic period and is mainly composed of forest. In the south of the municipality floor extends into the Bois de la Coupotte and to the east in the Bois de la Fiolle, in the 244 meters, the highest elevation of Noiron is achieved. North of the village, the Grove of Forêt des Hauts Bois expands (Wald of Gray).

Neighboring communities of Noiron are Gray in the north, and Cresancey Champtonnay in the east, and Arsans Lieucourt in the south and Le Tremblois and Champvans in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Noiron in 1150, as Nardouin de Noiron left the jurisdiction of the village to the monastery Corneux. In the Middle Ages Noiron belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Together with the Franche -Comté Noiron came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

Attractions

The village church of Noiron was built in the 18th century and is newly renovated. Additional area attractions include the castle, which dates from the 18th century, and the Lavoir from the 19th century, former wash house and livestock watering, whose roof is supported by three pillars.

Population

With 58 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Noiron one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1886 134 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Noiron was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Gray by Valay. Further road links exist with Champvans and Cresancey.
