Le Tremblois

Le Tremblois is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Tremblois situated at an altitude of 198 m above sea level, 7 km south of Gray and some 38 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the southwest of the department, at the edge of the plain of Gray in the Talniederung the Tenise on the northern edge of the Bois lady.

The area of ​​5.49 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of the Saone in the north and in the south Ognon. From east to west, the area is crossed by the Talniederung the Tenise, which provides for drainage Saône. The valley is flanked by a plateau, which lies on both sides on average 220 ​​m. It is divided by the small valley of various short tributaries of Tenise. History

In the Middle Ages Le Tremblois belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. 1354, Robert de Trembloy held the local rule. This went in 1380 to the family of Crécy and in 1629 was replaced by the rule of Cult with Chevigney. Together with the Franche- Comté reached Le Tremblois with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 19th century, it established iron- working industry. Today Le Tremblois is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Val de Gray.

Attractions

The castle, built in 1575 now serves as Hofgut. Another stately home dating back to the 18th century. Also worth seeing are two Calvaires of 1810 respectively 1874.

Population

With 191 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Le Tremblois one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population moved in the range between 80 and 150 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Tremblois has long been a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The iron industry was abandoned by the end of the 19th century. Today there are various operations of local small businesses, including an operation of the timber industry. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D475 which leads from Gray to Dole. Another road connection with Valay.
