Brett Emerton (born 22 February 1979 in Bankstown in Sydney's south west ) is a former Australian football player. Most recently, he played in the Australian first division club FC Sydney

The midfielder started his professional career in 1997 at Sydney Olympic in Australia and then moved to the beginning of the 2000/01 season in the Netherlands for Feyenoord and played in the Eredivisie. Here he developed and eventually moved to Blackburn, where he signed in 2003. The Blackburn Rovers he played more than 200 games until he in August 2011 in his home, in the A-League, moved to Sydney FC and a three-year contract signed ..

Emerton played 95 times for the Australian national football team and participated, among others, at the Confederations Cup in 2005, the Football World Cup in 2006 and at the World Cup 2010. In 2002 he was elected to Oceania Footballer of the Year. After goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer ( 102 caps) and Lucas Neill (96 caps), he is the player with the third most international matches for Australia. His last international game he played on December 9, 2012 at 8:0 against Taiwan. On January 16, 2014, he announced the end of his career due to injury.
