Brevilliers

Brevilliers is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Brevilliers situated at an altitude of 365 m above sea level, 3 km east of Héricourt and about 8 km southwest of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the western part of the Burgundian Gate, at the edge of the valley of the Ruisseau de Brevilliers at the northern foot of Mont Dannin.

The area of ​​6.47 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the Burgundian Gate. The northern part of the area occupied by the broad basin of Brevilliers, which is an average of 350 meters and is dewatered to Lizaine by the Ruisseau de Brevilliers to the southwest. To the south and south-east runs a roughly 50 to 80 m high ground level on a plateau, which is constructed from limestone of the Upper Jurassic time. It is on average 410 m and is partly used for agriculture, but also shows large forest areas. These include the Bois du Mont Dannin, on the 442- m, the highest elevation of Brevilliers is reached, the Bois de Chevrey and skin -Bois.

Neighboring communities of Brevilliers are Échenans -sous -Mont- Vaudois in the north, Banvillars, Doran and Bermont in the east, Châtenois -les -Forges and Bethoncourt in the south and Héricourt in the West.

History

The territory of Brevilliers was already inhabited in prehistoric times, which is the dolmen of Issières testifies. Since the first half of the 12th century Brevilliers was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard, which gave the village the reign Héricourt. In 1748 came the village, which belonged to the Principality of Montbéliard until then, finally contracted to the French crown. Since 2001 Brevilliers is a member of the comprehensive 20 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays d' Héricourt.

Attractions

The Reformed Church of Brevilliers was built in the 18th century. In the village is a Lavoir (wells and wash house ) from the 19th century. A landmark (18th century) testifies to the border between France and the Principality of Montbéliard.

Population

With 620 inhabitants (2007 ) Brevilliers one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had been in the first half of the 20th century, mostly in the range 310-380 people, a significant population growth was recorded especially during the 1960s. After a temporary stagnation occurred since 2000, a further increase.

Economy and infrastructure

Brevilliers was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in Héricourt and in the agglomerations Belfort and Montbéliard.
