Březová (Uherské Hradiště District)

Březova ( German Bresowa, 1939-1945 Birkicht ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers south-east of Uherský Brod and belongs to Okres Uherské Hradiště.

Geography

Březova is located at the northwestern foot of Velky Lopeník on the crest of the White Carpathians protected landscape territory PLA White Carpathians. The village is situated at the mouth of the creek in the valley of Hrubár Březova. To the north rise the Studenný vrch (646 m), Holý vrch ( 592 m) and the Municipal háj (536 m ) in the east of Grúň, Kobylec ( 844 m) and Maly Lopeník ( 881 m ) southeast of the Velky Lopeník (911 m ), in the south of the Nová hora (551 m) and Nová hora ( 629 m ) and the southwest Doubrava (550 m). Three kilometers to the east runs the border with Slovakia.

Neighboring towns are Sucha Loz, Podhorský Mlýn and Bystřice pod Lopeníkem in the north, Olšovec, Od Březovská and Lopeník in the northeast, Škrátova, Výškovecké Bošáčky, Vyškovec, Lopenické Bošáčky and Predpoloma in the east, Valová, Ondrášovec, Grúň and Mravcové the southeast, Šiance, Pančava, Bazalákovci, Šance, Květná and Mlýnky in the south, and strání Drahy in the southwest and Korytná, Nivnice, Cupák and Volenov in the northwest.

History

The village was probably founded in the 14th century by the Cistercian monastery Smilheim during colonization of the area between the Studenný vrch and the border with Hungary as a logging town. The oldest message about the existence of the village dates from the year 1325. Documented detectable Březova has 1351st In 1492, the first time a trade route from Moravia to Hungary on Brzezowa was mentioned. Later the village was called Bržezová. After Březova was destroyed in 1606 by the Transylvanian rebels under Stephen Bocskai, counsel Uherský Brod in 1615 the village Nová Březova left in the valley of the brook Březova create. The settlers came from Uherský Brod and Korytná. The land of the new village was beraint on 8 October 1616. This resulted in heavy border disputes with the owners of the surrounding villages strání, Sucha Loz and Horni Němčí of which corridors to Březova had been slammed shut. The bailiff of Březova, Vavrinec Vrabec, therefore recommended in 1617 a settlement of rule limits. 1621 the village was laid upon incidence of Gábor Bethlen troops in ruins. Nová Březova was rebuilt 1627-1641. Later the village was popularly known as Březova, this name was ultimately became the official place names.

After the abolition of patrimonial Březova / Bresowa and Olšovec / Olschowetz formed in 1850 independent congregations in the District Commission Uherský Brod. At the end of the Second World War, both villages were taken on April 26, 1945, after heavy fighting by the Red Army and Romanian troops. Here, 17 Russians and 42 Romanians, who were buried in the local cemetery died. The building damage was estimated at 15,000,000 crowns and forest damage on 1,500,000 crowns, were added yet damages of five million crowns of dead inventory. This Březova was one of the most damaged communities in Okres Uherský Brod.

On May 1, 1955 Olšovec and Březova were merged to a village Březova. After the abolition of Okres Uherský Brod Březova came to the end of 1960 Okres Uherské Hradiště.
