Brigham and Women's Hospital

The Brigham and Women's Hospital ( BWH, The Brigham ) is the largest hospital in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA ) in Boston and by the Massachusetts General Hospital ( MGH), the second largest teaching hospital based in the LMA Harvard Medical School. It is situated at the address 75 Francis Street.

History

BWH went 1980 out of the merger of three hospitals in Boston, all of which were associated with Harvard Medical School:

• Peter Bent Brigham Hospital established in 1913
• Robert Breck Brigham Hospital established in 1914
• Boston Hospital for Woman, from the merger of the Boston Lying - in Hospital ( founded in 1832 ) and the Free Hospital for Women (founded 1875), which emerged again in 1966.

The house decreed in 2012 over 793 beds and more than 15,000 employees, including 3,000 physicians, 1,000 researchers and 2,800 nurses. From the same year, the Faulkner Hospital at BWH is connected, is the partner of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center.

Medical services
