Broadway Records

Broadway Records was an American record label of the 1920s and 1930s.

History

Founding and achievements

The first records were pressed from Broadway Records to 1921 Masters of Paramount Records. The label was at that time the " Bridgeport Die and Machine Company " from Bridgeport, Connecticut. From 1924 recordings of Emerson Records and Banner Records were pressed onto plates and sold under its own name.

When the Bridgeport Company in 1925 went bankrupt and had to close, Broadway was taken over by the " New York Recording Laboratories " ( NYRL ). That company, as well as Paramount Records, the Wisconsin Chair Company of Port Washington, Wisconsin. From this point on Plaza recordings were only used, but the quality of the recordings was similar to Paramount below average standards at that time. During this time, Broadway has seen its greatest successes.

Takeover by ARC and end

1932 Broadway has been taken over by the multinational concern, American Record Corporation, ARC, Records, and a new series of plates introduced (4000 series). Shortly thereafter acquired the label newly launched Decca Broadway Records, and led the label until 1935, with moderate success on.
