The Broadwood Stadium (short: Broadwood ) is a football stadium in Cumbernauld, Scotland. It was opened in 1994 and is used by the football club FC Clyde. From 1994 to 1998, the Airdrieonians FC was home park and the opening of the new Excelsior Stadium in Broadwood after the sale of the old Broomfield. The stadium is owned by the Broadwood Stadium Company; the part of the unitary authority of North Lanarkshire.

History

With the Broadwood Stadium of FC Clyde in 1994 again found a home. From its foundation from 1877 to 1898 the club wore his games in Barrow Field Park in Glasgow. Then you stepped in Glasgow Shawfield on stage. Due to financial difficulties the club in 1935 sold it to the Greyhound Racing Association; remained the club as a tenant until 1986. due to renovations had to be the Clyde FC are looking for a new venue. Five years were spent in the Firhill Stadium of local rivals Partick Thistle until 1991. Was then moved to the old Douglas Park Hamilton Academical until the completion of Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, about 15 to 20 km outside of Glasgow. The team of FC Clyde was nicknamed Gypsy Army because they had to homeless move from one to another stadium.

The stadium was fitted to start with the two side stands and 6,000 places; the South Stand was added in 1997. On the open north side was a leisure and sports center and located behind the south stand several artificial grass training pitches. The playing surface of the stadium is also equipped with an artificial turf. The three ranks offering 8,209 covered seats and the floodlights mounted on the roof edge of the main and opposite stand. Guests will find fans on the Main Stand in the corner of the South Stand places.
