The Excelsior Stadium is a football stadium in the Scottish town of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire Unitary Authority. Here, the soccer club Airdrie United receives his opponents to the games. The sports complex was inaugurated in 1998 under the name Shyberry Excelsior Stadium and has 10,171 seats. In memory of the old venue, it is also known as New Broomfield. History

Until 1994, the FC Airdrieonians (predecessor of the club Airdrie United) played in Broomfield Park; after the property was sold to the Safeway supermarket chain and demolished the Broomfield Park. The goal was the establishment of a stadium which meets the requirements of the Scottish Premier League (including at least 10,000 covered seats ) corresponded. In 1998, the stadium was completed. One of the matches of FC Airdrieonians were, on average, but only about 2,000 spectators and the cost of the oversized stadium led the club in financial difficulties and ended with the dissolution of the FC Airdrieonians in 2002. The stadium consists of four separate, covered patio stands. The plastic seats are red in the club colors, white and black. The main grandstand Jack Dalziel state is the largest rank and named after a former chairman of the FC Airdrieonians. The East Stand on the backstretch is provided for the visiting fans.
