Broken Arrow is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is the largest suburb of Tulsa, has 100 073 inhabitants ( 2011), making it the fourth largest city in Oklahoma.

History

The name derives from the Muskogee Indians, who founded the city. This happened when they were in finding appropriate branches for their arrows. They had the branches broken off rather than cut them off, hence the name Broken Arrow = ( Ab) Broken Arrow. The Indian name is " Thlikachka ".

Broken Arrow 1931 was the first city in Oklahoma and the sixth in the United States who chose a woman, Phenie Lou Ownby, as mayor.
