Brokopondo

Brokopondo on the map of Suriname

Brokopondo is a place in the central and departmental Suriname with 2854 inhabitants. It is located eight kilometers north of the Brokopondo Dam ( Dutch: Brokopondostuwmeer ), the only artificial lake in the country. The dam, which is located in the nearby village Afobaka, dammed at this point the river Suriname.

Brokopondo is the main town in the district Brokopondo. He is one of the largest places of the interior of Suriname.
