Brookshire is a city in Waller County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located on U.S. Highway 90 and on the 3960 km long, east- west trending, Interstate 10, south of Waller County, about 50 km west of Houston. It has a total area of 9.1 km ² without significant water surface.

History

Brookshire was recorded in 1946 as a city. It was named after Captain Nathan Brookshire, a member of Stephen F. Austin's fifth column in 1835. 1893 the first post office was opened and later released with the Brookshire Times a short time the first newspaper. 1920, the population had risen to 1250 and 1980, it was 2244 inhabitants.
