Brookside Village is a city in Brazoria County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city lies a few kilometers south of Houston and 45 km north of Angleton, on the border with Harris County, and has a total area of 5.5 km ² without significant water surface.

History

Pending the inclusion of as a city in 1959, Brookside Village was just a loose collection of buildings with a railway connection to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and 1961, the population had risen to 560 straight times.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 1,960 people in 655 households and 535 families. The population density was 358.7 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 74.03 % White, 3.11% African American, 0.51 % Native American, 0.82 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 20.46 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 1.07% were of mixed descent, and 43.62 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 655 households 32.8 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.9 % were married couples living together. 9.6 % had a female householder with no husband, and 18.2% were non-families. 13.6 % of all households were single-person households and 5.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size amounted to 3.22.

24.9% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.8 % from 18 to 24, 31.0 % 25-44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.0 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 117.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over 117.3 males.

The median income for a household was $ 44,650, and the median income for a family $ 50,625. Males have a median income of $ 32,500 versus $ 27,981 for females. The per capita income was $ 18,609. 16.1 % of the population and 10.1 % of families are below the poverty line. Of which 20.2 % have children under the age of 18 and 5.6 % of those 65 or older.
