Bror Emil Hildebrand

Bror Emil Hildebrand ( born February 22, 1806 Flerohopp, now the town Nybro; † August 30, 1884 in Stockholm) was a Swedish archaeologist and numismatist.

Hildebrand began in 1820 to study at Lund University, where he qualified as a lecturer in 1830. Two years later he was appointed as an assistant in the Royal Coin Cabinet in Stockholm and in 1837 to the Kingdom of antiquarian (ie, director of the archaeological and historic State Museum and the Royal Coin Cabinet, inspector of monuments) and secretary of the Royal Academy of Fine Sciences ( Kungliga Vitterhets History och Antikvitets academies) appointed. This office he held until in 1879.

Since 1866 he was a member of the Swedish Academy and sat on the eleventh chair of the 18 numbered chairs the Academy.
