Bruce Halford

Bruce Halford (* May 18, 1931 Hampton-in - Arden, † December 2, 2001 in Churston Ferrers ) was a British racing driver.

Without much racing experience, Halford only some Formula Junior race contested on a Cooper - Bristol, was the Briton 's home race at Silverstone in 1956 his debut in the Formula 1 World Championship. The Maserati 250F, which it failed in the race after an engine failure, was once piloted by the Thai Prince Bira. With the Maserati Halford also drove 1957 and 1958 single-seater racing, before he swapped the elderly formula car against a Lister Jaguar to drive with this national sports car racing in the UK. Even at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, he was several times at the start.

1959 Halford returned to the single-seaters back and reached for the Silver City Trophy at Snetterton a works BRM third. He found a firm place in spite of eight starts in Formula 1, but not, so he ended mid -1960s his active career.

In the late 1970s, the race for historic racing cars were popular, Halford returned with its private 16 Lotus back to racing and was very welcome guest at these events until a few years before his death in 2001.
