Bruno Kessler

Bruno Kessler ( born February 17, 1924 in Cogolo di Pejo, † 19 March 1991 Trent ) was an Italian politician.

Kessler attended high school in Rovereto and then graduated in law at the University of Padua, where he graduated in 1950. Professionally, Kessler worked as a lawyer, along with Flavio Mengoni he ran a law firm.

In 1956 he was first elected on the list of Christian Democracy in the Regional Council of Trentino -Alto Adige. From 1960 to 1974, Kessler President of the Province of Trento, in his tenure was the attainment of autonomy of Trentino in 1972. From 1974 to 1976 he was president of the region.

From 1976 to 1983, Kessler MP for the Christian Democrats in the Italian Parliament, in the first government of Francesco Cossiga 1979-1980 he served as Under Secretary in the Ministry of Interior. From 1983 to 1991 he was a senator.

Kessler was concerned about the education system in Trentino earned by Istituto Trentino di Cultura 1962 founded, which later became the University of Trento should emerge. His son Giovanni Kessler is also a lawyer and politician.
