Bruno Orešar

Bruno Orešar (* April 21, 1967 in Zagreb ) is a former Croatian tennis player.

Life

Orešar was several Yugoslavian youth champion in different age groups and three times won the Orange Bowl in 1982 by defeating Boris Becker. He attended Washington & Jefferson College near Pittsburgh in 1984 and stood in the quarterfinals of the junior tournament, the U.S. Open. In 1985, he won his first Challenger in Ostend tournament and the semi-finals of the ATP tournament from Boston. 1987 and 1988, he won another Challenger title. In 1988, he was in his first ATP final in Athens was defeated Horst Skoff. In the same year he lost in the doubles final of Boston on the side of Jaime Yzaga against Jorge Lozano and Todd Witsken. His second and last finals on the ATP World Tour he had in 1989 at the Swedish Open, where he lost to Paolo Canè in straight sets. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached position 23 in the singles and in 1989 with position 37 in a double 1986.

At Grand Slam tournaments he never got beyond the second round. In the doubles competition, he only once qualified for the French Open.

Orešar played 1984-1989 13 single and a double batch for the Yugoslav Davis Cup team. In the quarter- finals of the World Group in 1988, he underwent his Einzelspieg against the Italians Francesco Cancellotti the crucial point for the semi-finals. However, in the semi-final against Germany, he came not to use, Goran Ivanisevic played in his place.
