Serbia Davis Cup team

The Serbian Davis Cup team is the national team of Serbia tennis. The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, similar to the Fed Cup for the women.

History

The Serbian team is in terms of historical statistics, the team of Serbia and Montenegro in the Davis Cup team and the Yugoslav successor. This had participated as at that time the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1927. Serbia enters since 2007 as an independent team. After three semi-finals in 1988, 1989 and 1991, the team was in 2010 for the first time to the finals. In the match against France, the Serbian team had the upper hand and won in Belgrade almost 3:2. 2013 moved the team back to the final. Before a home crowd in Belgrade they defeated the Czech Republic 2:3.

The most successful player is Franjo Punčec who could win 42 games. Record player Nenad Zimonjic is with 41 participations within 17 years.
